This recognition highlights the measurable real-world impact of our PowerAID™ solution, delivering intelligent streetlighting that’s safer, more sustainable, and smarter for communities.

About the Awards

The DfT Special Recognition Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the UK’s highways and transportation sector. With a record number of submissions received this year, the 2025 shortlist recognises only the most impactful and forward-thinking projects across the country.

To be named a finalist is a powerful endorsement of the work we’re doing to help cities transition to data-led, climate-aligned, and community-focused infrastructure.

Our Submission Story: PowerAID™ in Action

Our award submission centered on the deployment of PowerAID™, Felicity’s AI-powered Intelligent Dimming technology, designed to adapt streetlighting to real-time traffic and pedestrian activity.

The initiative focused on proving improved safety and sustainability outcomes across key corridors in Southwark Borough, where several communities had previously expressed concerns about underlit areas and pedestrian safety at night.

With no capital investment required, and zero disruption to existing infrastructure, PowerAID™ was deployed to evidence how as a solution, it could make an immediate impact.

The system’s ability to adapt lighting levels dynamically, not just by time of day, but by actual usage, ensures lighting is always where it’s needed most. It’s a smarter, more sustainable way to manage public infrastructure.

Why It Matters

Our work with PowerAID™ is grounded in a simple belief: that technology should serve people first.

By delivering adaptive, intelligent lighting in areas where pedestrians previously felt unsafe, we’re helping cities become more walkable, more liveable, and more inclusive. At the same time, the emissions and cost savings help meet climate targets and protect public budgets.

It’s a win for safety, for sustainability, and for smarter spending.
